Algarve Motor Sport . . .

There is a large selection of motorsport action within the Algarve. Rallye's and 4x4 TT's (todo-o-terrano) are regularly held throughout the year. The most widely publicised event is the Rallye Casinos do Algarve held each October over three days. These events are sponsored by casino's throughout the Algarve. They attract competitive cars, drivers and navigators from all over Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy and United Kingdom.

There is no shortage of clubs that organise raids and trials. Clube Land Rover de Portugal hold events in the Algarve as well as the rest of Portugal throughout the year. Rallyes are also organised for classic car owners. There are always a few surprises at a classic car meet with amazingly rare examples that have been lovingly restored over many years. If you see an event advertised, a visit would be very interesting.

Motor sport is not just limited to cars either. There are countless Moto-X events and the larger ones are usually held on public holidays. These events can draw thousands of spectators who come to watch the competition between sponsored teams and the individual "Superstars".

For those on holiday who prefer to compete themselves, kart racing is favoured by many. There are several kart tracks available, probably the most well known is the large track at Almancil in the central Algarve.
