Algarve Night Life . . .
The
night life here can be anything you choose, from traditional Fado singing,
to the splendour of live cabaret shows at casinos in Vilamoura, Praia
de Rocha and Monte Gordo, or disco's that carry on into the early hours
of the morning.
Fado singing is regarded as nostalgic and the origination of this traditional
Portuguese singing dates back several hundred years. The Fadista, a
powerfully-voiced singer, is backed by guitarists. There is also a thriving
arts scene where you can enjoy classical concerts and opera at major
cities and towns like Faro, Tavira and Portimâo.
Perhaps you would prefer to wine and dine "al fresco" like
many Portuguese people, to sit and enjoy the rest of the evening over
coffee with maybe a liquor such as medronho or aguadente. You have an
excellent choice of restaurants throughout the Algarve. They are so
varied that there is always one to satisfy everybody's taste.

The coastal resorts have bars offering "happy hours" most nights together with live music. The majority of bars close between 02.00 - 04.00hrs. There are plenty of Disco's which generally open around 23.00 hrs and stay open till about 06.00 hrs. If you intend to seriously compete with the Portuguese attending discos, take a tip, they get their sleep before 22.00 hrs, wake up and go clubbing. |
