The Algarve enjoys a climate that enables the tennis player to be on court virtually any time of the year. Tennis is probably the third most practised sport in Portugal.

All along the Algarvian coast the visitor will find many enthusiastic tennis clubs with good multilingual professional coaches. The clubs provide a warm friendly atmosphere with club competitions ranging from tournaments and club matches to social tennis that visitors may be invited to participate in. Most clubs provide coaching for all levels of experience and to all ages. The courts range from all weather, American clay or artificial grass.

Many of the major hotels and holiday resorts have courts or tennis facilities. A number of the larger ones also provide resident coaches who are usually multi-lingual, so if you are wishing to learn tennis or brush up your skills there is no shortage of experience within the Algarve tennis scene.

Many international tennis pros actually spend the winter months here in the Algarve, practising and training for their rigorous professional tournaments season.
